Chinese takeaway on 'Het Stammeland'
A longstanding tradition...
Mini Camping Het Stammeland is all about peace, space and... cosiness. One of the best traditions we have cherished for years is having Chinese together on the campsite. All together at long rows of camping tables and chairs, under the open sky, in the middle of the site. Only when the weather is fine and the campsite is full, of course.
How it began
This tradition originated years ago. The reason? We don't really remember. What we do know is that it was immediately so pleasant, that it happened more often and eventually became a tradition. My father Jos started it, together with my mother Nicolette. She loved sociability and bringing people together. Small moments that eventually became the greatest memories.
Even after the death of my mother Nicolette, we continued this tradition. For her, for us, for everyone who supported us during that time, and of course for our guests.

A table for everyone
It usually happens once or twice a year. On such an evening, we treat: Chinese for the whole campsite, including cold beers and a mix of regular and vegan dishes. We order a hefty stack of monthly menus, push all the camping tables together, and before we know it, the whole campsite is eating, laughing and chatting.
More than just food
What makes these evenings so special is the atmosphere. Guests always react enthusiastically. They are surprised that something like this happens. Often we hear: ‘This is unique, you don't see this anywhere.’ We later read back in the reviews how special they thought it was. People get talking to each other and new stories and memories emerge. There is a lot of conviviality. Exactly why we keep doing this.
A small gesture, a big moment
Guests often spontaneously help set up or clear away tables and chairs. And people who have meant a lot to us, especially during the period when my mother was ill, we lovingly invite extra. A small gesture of thanks, and above all: making something beautiful together.
Last Saturday it was party time again
Last Saturday was another such evening. Over 54 people sat at the table together. We had ordered as many as ten monthly menus. It really shouldn't have been one less, because everything almost went up! We enjoyed ourselves again. What a wonderful evening with fine people.
Will you be there next time?
